Israel Cristostomo (Izzy) Alcantara (born May 6, 1971 in Baní, Dominican Republic) was a baseball player for the Boston Red Sox and Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball.

Alcántara was signed as an amateur free agent by the Montreal Expos in 1990. He made national news as as a minor leaguer in 2001 when he retaliated against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons catcher Jeremy Salazar during a game. On July 3, 2001, Alcántara was hit by a pitch by Red Barons pitcher Blas Cedeño.

Feeling that he had been thrown at, he responded by kicking catcher Salazar in the face, karate-style, before rushing the mound. The pitcher wisely backed out of his way, and after momentarily trying to get anyone on the Red Barons to fight him, was engulfed in the ensuing bench-clearing brawl. Afterwards, Alcantara was given a 7-game suspension, and his career never recovered.

I tried posting the following comment to your feedback section, but it kept saying "error" and asking me to try again. It never worked. Perhaps it won't accept critical comments? (I gave your customer service a "Piss Poor" rating.) In any case, the following comment belongs in your feedback section for all to see:

I bought a Little Labs Redeye from Mercenary and had a question about connecting it to another piece of gear that I have. I called and spoke at length with X about the issue, and the result was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. Though I think X did understand what he was trying to say, he communicated so poorly that he turned a simple question into a massive communications problem. His explanation was garbled, unclear, inconsistent, confusing, non-linear, and, in several instances, simply wrong. It's not that he didn't understand, he just didn't listen to what he was saying and didn't realize that he often mis-spoke. Besides, he kept jumping around and refused to make any effort to speak in a consistent and logical way. I tried to guide the conversation into a more rational framework several times, but he would just shout me down and refuse to listen. Quite a few times I tried to summarize what he was trying to say, which I did with great precision and accuracy, and then ask, "is this right"? And he would shout "NO!!!" He did this again and again. Finally, insisting that he try listening for a change, I repeated myself for about the tenth time, and he said "yes, that's right". However, what I said was exactly what he had said "NO" to nine times previously!!! Finally he got patronizing and condescending and made an obviously fake apology. Altogether he was arrogant, conceited, inconsiderate, and clearly working on the assumption that he was talking to an idiot and only he knew anything. Though he may be technically well informed, in this case he was clearly unable, or simply unwilling, to translate his knowledge into a clear communication. He didn't just refuse to listen to me, he wouldn't even listen to himself and was thus unaware of how unclear and inconsistent he was being. If he wasn't so arrogant, he could probably do a lot better job. If he realized that sometimes the customer is quite well informed and is able to make useful contributions to the conversation, he could save everyone a lot of time and aggravation by actually listening. In the end he pretended to realize that he had been wrong all along, made a fake apology, and terminated the conversation without ever having communicated anything useful at all. Talking to X was a big mistake and a huge aggravation. Zero stars for customer service.

Comments:Pretty happy with the experience. One disappointment though was although the product arrived in a timely fashion, it was missing the power cord. This can happen from time to time and in itself isnt an issue. The problem is that while seemingly responsive to the issue via email, the missing part has not been sent.

This isn't a question, but it's the only addy I could find that might come close to a simple "contact us". If this isn't the right contact email, please forward it to the correct folks.

I didn't want to post this on your Feedback page, 'cause I haven't ordered anything from you. And I don't want to publicly give you a negative remark. I just wanted you to know *why* I haven't ordered anything from you.

The deal is, I'm a Christian, and as such, I'd rather not see pictures of half naked chicks on your website, vintage though they may be. I also saw a couple off demonic looking creatures on your Mercenary Editions and Accessories pages. On top of that, there was a dirty joke that was posted on your site -- something about a dog's balls.

Bottom line here -- I ordered a Speck Electronics X.Sum through another dealer because I didn't want to look at the things I mentioned every time I wanted to buy a great piece of audio gear. I would have loved to give you my business, because you guys have a reputation for providing great products and service. I know I'm just one guy, and it may not matter to you what I think, but I at least wanted to let you know why I didn't choose Mercenary Audio.

I hope you will choose to clean up your site. You can be vintage and cool looking without using some of the images you do. The microphone with the wings is a great logo for your company.
