SWAG: (pirate term) Stolen without a gun Now you can be as cool as...Steve EarleThe Mercenary® T-shirt has been a fixture for over a decade and a half. They have appeared on rock stars, roadies, recording engineers, TV shows blah, blah, blah. They've always had something amusing on the back, be it a comment on the industry or flipping a hearty middle finger to the client (or concert attendee as they sit behind you). Now, there is something inside the shirt that actually matters more than the "biker" looking logo on the front or the somewhat irreverent saying on the back. Inside these shirts and coffee mugs is a chance to give back to roots music and continue to aid those affected by Hurricane Katrina. Thank you to all who purchased a t-shirt in 2005 and designated a donation to our previously chosen charities that aided victims of Hurricane Katrina. Starting in 2006, Mercenary will donate 25% of the proceeds from your swag purchase to Music Maker Relief Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping the true pioneers and forgotten heroes of Southern musical traditions gain recognition and meet their day to day needs. Criterion for recipients is that they be rooted in a Southern musical tradition, be 55 years or older and have an annual income less than $18,000. Since Hurricane Katrina, Music Maker has also established a New Orleans Musicians Fund (which is working in conjunction with the New Orleans Musicians Clinic to help get displaced musicians of all ages back on their feet. Simply place your swag order, and the staff at Mercenary will be sure to redirect the appropriate funds down South [while you get some damn fine looking clothing to amuse your friends and tell your competitors to watch out... you're a serious player with the finest tools and the best backup]. As cash donations are the best way to help expedite relief efforts, we also encourage you to donate directly to this organization at www.musicmaker.org/donations.html. |
