The Tango passive extension bay allows you add an extra 12 faders and 16 soft keys to an 8 channel Tango controller.

"Passive" in this context means that the controller doesn't have all of the processing horsepower or "brains" that are found in the master controller and in the "active" expansion bay. The Passive module is used to expand a Tango system from 8 channels to 20 channels.

Because the Tango master controller can only accommodate a single passive expansion module, an Active 12 channel module must be added in order to achieve the system's maximum of 32 channels.
