The name for this little Gem is PERFECT!
It is a wide ranging filter set that is works wonders all over the place in my experience. It has little to zero color, and is surgical as a bastard!! You can use one, or both bands, and depending on what is needed, there is a filter position for every single minute of the day.
The Guillotine is awesome for problematic issues with low frequency content while recording applications like acoustic GTR, vocals, and certain elements of acoustic drums, like the H/H, etc. Its also great for anything electronic, for a very unique sonic attribute. They are wonderful for creating effects with synth and such, using it in parallel, with delays and other time domain effects. I've been using a pair for the effects returns on our console and they are quite enjoyable there for many reasons.
I have a new appreciation for filtering sounds!!!! The list goes on for applications, and Jon has made an incredibly useful device here that I would strongly recommend for the task at hand. It has worked really well for me during tracking and proven mighty useful by mix time, when I am in need of a "save ass" kind of tool, and do not want the adverse phase shift distortion of an equalizer. -A/B
