Wind is a powerful and terrible force for ribbon microphones and if you think about it for a minute you'll hopefully realize why… ok, we did say hopefully. Ribbon microphone elements are, in essence, a very thin strip of aluminum (for Royer mics) and with one good puff anyone can blow the house down.
