Mercenary Audio - The Black Pages

Looking for reprints of you favorite or soon to be favorite audio recording articles? Need more guitar recording tips? Wondering if you can really get good drums sounds from only three mics (don't take our word for it, try it yourself!)? Wondering how the Drawmer 1969 came to be? Confused as to why we don't carry a certain piece of equipment?

Well, pour yourself a beverage, hit "backup" on your RADAR and put the mobile on silent 'cause chances are you'll be here a while.

You'll find reprints of classic articles all audio engineers, regardless of how many years you were on tour with Captain and Tennille or how many times you've relapped the heads of your JH-24, should know about.

Application notes feature gear you'll find on this website, gear left over from days of yore and gear we wouldn't piss on if it were on fire. (That would be our subtle hint to "bookmark" this page and check back often).

And finally, after many years of answering the same questions time and time again ("Is the RNC really as good as people say?"), we've decided to post our most frequently asked questions, or F.A.Q. (pronounced "phah-cue" as we are in New England) in the section called, erm, F.A.Q.

This section, just like the rest of the site, is searchable. So if time is short and answers are needed, use the search function that appears at the bottom of this page. Of course you can still email us your questions, otherwise we'd have to find other ways to amuse ourselves.
