There once was a guy by the name of Georg Neumann who started building condenser microphones in Germany in 1928. While not the first condenser microphones [the first was built by an American named E.C. Wente in 1916], they were the first to gain world wide popularity and notoriety. Sometime during the late 1930's or early 1940's Georg and his buddy [Neumann's chief engineer Mr. Kühnast], decided that they might enjoy a slightly better quality of life if they moved their company to a sleepy little village a couple of hours outside of Berlin [like where nobody was dropping bombs and other war related activities] called Gefell. |
