The LEVR is fresh idea for passive summing, brought to us from JCF Audio’s custom shop. The LEVR is a product that combines two mono 500 series cards which are specifically designed for use with a Roll Music Folcrom RMS216 Passive Summing Mixer. Ultimately, these cards are described as active summing amplifiers which are powered by your 500 series frame. We liked the units with the output transformer so much that we decided to package it up with the RMS216 and Empirical Labs EL500 Rack, which can house two single space modules. The amplifier design of the LEVR is inspired by the push-pull amp topologies of simple, time proven circuits of yesteryear. The “sound” and response the LEVR provides the end user with much greater width and height to a mix, along with a very musical drive, focus and spatial perception.
The LEVR is entirely different from a microphone preamplifier and does not allow the use of any line level mixing of signals, so no, it can’t be used as a 3X1 mixer. The XLR input’s on the front panel intention is for cascading up to X3 RMS216's so you can sum up to 48 Channels.
