Mercenary Audio
padA big idea for small spaces.

A strong idea for rare and vintage mics.

Tired of precariously balancing your expensive mics?
Wish you could get a mic low enough for that drum?

So was Jeff Roberts, President of Latch Lake Music. One day while recording piano, he was alarmed to hear the pianist say that one of the microphones was laying on the piano harp. This was especially annoying since he had just tightened the boom clutch very close to it's breaking point. He wondered how anything could be so mechanically bankrupt as a mic stand.

That was the beginning of the micKing™.

The mic stand and Xtra Boom™ are the result of almost four years of R&D and prototyping. When one of the key men on the project died, Latch Lake brought in outside engineering. The outside design firm is headed by one of the six men that invented Numerical Machine Control (a true industrial genius), which is the forefather to today's Computer Numerical Control (CNC), and the man that designed the shuttle craft on the movie Star Trek V.
