Old-school analog crustaceans that they are, InnerTube recognizes the productivity that digital audio workstations (like Digidesign Pro Tools and others) has made possible. Running the outputs through a high-quality mixing console has become a favorite best-of-both worlds solution for those who want digital flexibility and analog sound quality. But what if you don't have a large-format console, or prefer to mix "inside the box"? Well, we thought up the Sumthang just for you.

innerTube Audio Atomic Sumthang features

The Sumthang sums eight line-level (+4) inputs into two outputs, using a top-secret vacuum tube circuit for sound quality that we think mops the floor with any other "analog" summing box on the market today. Ins and outs are transformer-balanced. Units can be cascaded together to bring as many analog outs as your DAW has into the stereo outs of your main Sumthang unit, and we've been kicking around plans for a 16-channel dedicated expander. An over sized output volume knob and super-accurate VU meters let you tweak the signal to the liking of your two-track recording or monitoring system, and even better, they look important.

Triode Electron Tubes > This product was created for loyal Atomic Squeeze Box owners who asked us for an analogue summing combiner for use with Digital Audio Workstations. The dry, often-brittle sound common to a lot of today’s digital program material, and unsatisfactory digital mix-downs, have led many mixing engineers to resort to doing their final DAW mix-downs on analogue mixing consoles — a very expensive ‘add-on’ to a DAW!

8 Line Inputs - Stereo Output > The Atomic Sumthang offers an innovative, compact solution in convenient 8-channel modules. (Multiple units can be ganged.) Now your digital mixes can have the richness, warmth and full-bodied sound of our fine analog tube-transformer design.

Fully Transformer Isolated > The AST takes 8 line level sources and mixes them into a stereo output buss. The AST’s line inputs are 25k bridging and are transformer isolated. They are suitable for use with Hi-Z or Lo-Z, and balanced or unbalanced sources. The transformers fully isolate the audio signal from the noisy digital grounds of the computer.

Low Distortion & Low Noise > The novel AST output circuitry uses low distortion triode electron tubes in combination with custom-made, nickel-core audio output transformers. Output levels are controlled by a large stereo volume control on the front panel. Two precision VU meters are provided for accurate signal monitoring.

High Computer Noise Immunity > Reports from users indicate a great deal of satisfaction with the Atomic Sumthang — which easily returns fine analogue quality to the world of digital convenience.
