Stayne McLane and his InnerTUBE Audio may have found the best sounding weapon with which to battle the "loudness wars". The stereo Atomic Squeeze Box is the largest sounding compressor I have never heard on a 2 Mix buss. It decreases the dynamic range, it "tightens up" a mix, [just like a 2 buss compressor is supposed to] but without the artifacts, pumping and breathing, and other nasty shit that makes 2 buss compression generally so offensive. There is no application where the Stereo Atomic Squeezebox will not be at home... whether you're using it in dual mono mode with the lead vocal on one side and the bass on the other or squashing the crap out of your mix buss the Stereo ASB will bring a smile to your face that may require a power tool [like a disk sander] to remove. -Fletcher
innerTube Atomic Squeezebox features
The ASB is designed to control the amplitude of an audio signal that is passed through it while imparting virtually none of the sonic artifacts traditionally associated with compression and limiting. In short, our intention is that it does not have a sound, though we certainly hope it is this very fact that will help make your final product sound better. As such, it can take a little getting used to, and new users sometimes find themselves experimenting with steep ratios and low thresholds just to "hear it working." As you learn to dial in exactly what you need, though, we think you'll begin to find that owning an ASB is best compared to having a skilled assistant, who knows the program material backwards and forwards, riding faders.
