I emailed customer service before I purchased the product just to make sure it was in stock and they wrote me back the same day! the reason I gave it a 4 under Delivery is for 2 reasons. First, I wish they could have included a tracking number in my email so that i knew when it was arriving. This is not a big deal but it would have been nice. Second, when I received the item I thought the packing materials could have been better. The item was in a small box (from the manufactuer I assume) with no packing materials and the box was just placed in a yellow envelope lined with air bubbles. This worried me as the item was a $500 item and I know that UPS has a tendency to be rough with packages. However, I received the item in perfect working order so maybe I just worry too much. Tried out the API->MC77 and the quartet last night and actually had it cabled correctly right off the bat for once. The API->MC77 chain is nice and aggressive and very easy for me to dial in something I like. The quartet is a different sound altogether (this piece is going to keep me busy a long time figuring it all out) and I was really happy with the difference in sounds I can get now, both of which I can really use. I know gear is not going to be the magic bullet, that a lot of other things go into getting what you need, but for me I now have some diversity and different choices and that’s what was missing. I've been using a Delta 1010 for the past 6 years so this step has been long overdue. In my head I thought I kinda had an idea of what it might sound like since I've heard friends' Apogees and Pro Tools HDs and all that stuff. So I put the card in, hooked it up, and brought up some files up in Wavelab. GODDAM! I knew it'd be better but this was fuckin ridiculious. I kept the Delta in so I could switch back and forth for my own shits and giggles. I would hear something with the Lynx and then switch back and hear like a muddy 2D version of that same sound. I was all obsessed with this part where a tambourine came in during the chorus and was all stupdified at how I could hear that it was actually played in a room and not just there in the recording! After that I got lost listening to all my favorite cd's for like 5 hours until I noticed I was late for work! Anyway, I'm going to get used to this for a while before I take it to my friend's place and hook it up to his Big Ben. Oh yeah, I might also add that it's quite good buddies with my API 8200a already too. It's nice to do a mix and capture it back into the card, then play it back and not have lost all the stuff you were hearing. I didn't need that extra help making me sound even worse! Ha ha.
