FMR’s second offering is the now venerable RNP. This under priced little feller affords the engineer 60db of smooth, clean gain. The unit features 2 DI inputs that are like nothing you have ever heard before.. There are insert jacks on the rear so you can easily insert an RNC or RNLA. Because the inputs and outputs of the units are balanced you can also use it as a "line in/line out balance" box for your FMR compressors should you feel the need.
FMR RNP Availability Update - June 2007
FMR AUDIO RNP FEATURES
Lots of Headroom > At unity gain, the RNP has a clip point of +28dBu over 27 Volts peak-to-peak).
RNC Inserts > Each channel on the RNP has an unbalanced send/receive jack that allow you to connect to an RNC using a single TRS (tip-ring-sleeve) cable per channel. You can also use this feature to balance any other unbalanced piece of gear (with the proper cables of course). One more thing, with the right external set up and know how, the RNP can provide a separate +22dBu unbalanced output AND a +28dBu balanced output simultaneously (for fancy things like separate M/S decoding while tracking the M/S signal without decoding -- nifty!).
Balanced/Unbalanced operation > Both mic inputs and mic pre outputs are electronically balanced, differential signals. Therefore making the "dang, this [insert source here] is unbalanced!" a non-issue.
Slowly-ramping 48v supply > The RNP ramps up to +48Volts slowly, in case you forgot your SM 57 doesn't need phantom power. The ramp also helps the pre "settle" and reduces the number of output pops and clicks.
