In the late 90's Avalon Design released what was to become a revolutionary concept in recording tools called the VT-737. This was the first professional grade "all in one" recording channel. It featured a mic-pre, and equalizer and a compressor. Since that time many other manufacturers have lent their design sensibilities to the idea. Some, like the Manley VoxBox took to adding the compressor before the mic pre, some like the Pendulum Audio Quartet and Quartet II will allow you to employ each section individually as well as in a chain. The "combo" units you see here have been played with an applied in our studio, the Methods and Applications Laboratory, and have been found to exhibit unique and exciting characters. Their functional abilities and their overall tones vary, but their usefulness as excellent recording tools is unparalleled. |
