Chandler Ltd Germanium Tone Control EQ w/PSU

It would be an understatement to say the Germanium Tone Control is not your average every-day EQ. Honestly, this bugger's a little odd (in a good way), and not for the person who's looking for a safe, polite EQ. The mono, selectable frequency device has three bands, and two distinct types of circuits. First, the front-end of the channel features the Germanium "Drive" and "Feedback" controls, allowing you to harmonically color the input signal before even switching in the EQ. For the bottom, there's the passive band, called the "thick" section. It is designed to provide the pillow-y, blooming low-end of those famous old Pultec and Lang passive EQs. The "presence" (midrange) and treble bands are a whole 'nother circuit altogether, an active one, with a distinctive English accent. The Germanium Tone Control gives you the best of two great sonic schools; American rumble and British Edge.

chandler germanium tone control features
Chandler's newest series of units continues with the Germanium Tone Control. The Tone Control uses active and passive EQ circuits in combination with the Germanium amplifier developed for the Germanium Pre and incorporates the versatile Feedback and Drive controls as well. The passive low frequency section is selectable between "Pultec/Lang" interactive curves and more standard low frequency with passive filter bands while the Treble and Presence bands are active.
  • Individual bypass for passive and active EQ sections.
  • Interactive/Independent toggle to select between interactive "Pultec/Lang" type curves where you can boost and cut at the same time to create a range of EQ combinations or create a more "standard" low frequency with pass filter combination.
  • Germanium Drive controls the input gain of the Germanium amp. The amount of gain is related to the Feedback control position.
  • Feedback Control determines the amount of output signal fed from the amplifier output back to its input.
  • Thick Section is a variation of the Thick setting on the Germanium Mic Pre. It is the passive portion of the equalizer and has controls for boosting and cutting at the same time to create combinations in either Interactive or Independent modes.
  • Treble is the active band that provides 18dB of boost or cut and is selectable between bell and shelf curves. The bell sections are at a wider Q than the Presence band.
  • Presence is also active with a 15dB boost or cut on eight frequencies. For vairety the Q is slightly sharper than the bell setting on the Treble band.
