The 1073MP is the Mic Pre-only version of the 1073. In conjunction with Avedis Audio, BAE has created this preamp using the same 283 card and same transformers that you will find in the 1073. For todays mic's you should never need more than 70 db's of gain so BAE has omitted the third gain stage and created a constant input impedance throughout the switch.
Since the new 1073MPF comes in a totally enclosed chassis, BAE had some extra real estate to add a few new features:
- Polarity reverse button.
- Impedance select between 1200 and 300 ohms.
- Direct input switch.
- Balanced line input
- 48v phantom power.
Also available as an option is a variable HPF (aka the 1073MPF).
The 1073 features:
- Same 283 amp card as the 1073.
- Same transformers as the 1073.
- Same hand-wired modular construction that BAE is known for.
