This thing is awesome! But you'd expect nothing less right? I love 225L's! Always have!!! They are bad ass! In the console and in 200 frames! The 527 is a repackaging of this beloved product. It adds an output gain pot, [while 225L's are auto-gain] and the very useful "thrust" control, which makes it very reminiscent of the 2500. The 527 is a very "tunable" channel style compressor with very fast action yielding a smooth and bold texture. Like the 525 and 2500, the 527 is another vice grip for compression, but this vice grip has more reach and the way it "grabs" is really cool. It can be really smoooooooth or really aggressive and certainly do the "exploding" drum buss thing quite well. When using it to dial in dynamics, on anything, it is solid sounding, and clean. This is definitely not an "esoteric" type with stuff you can't figure out, or don't want/need. It is console compression done right!!! It has WAY more range than something like the 525. The stepped pots are lovely, the metering is perfect, [switchable from G/R to output], and the compression settings are vast with the 527. -A/B
