When we first saw the Ensemble that Apogee's Dave Casey had brought here to Boston, we were highly concerned about its well-being. We noticed right away that the unit was cosmetically damaged, at which point Dave described a scary Airline handling mishap: the Ensemble had literally been dropped! Hoping that wouldn’t stand in our way we fired that baby up to find, to our amazement it was 100% working (even all the LED’s and front-panel knobs). OK, so it’s built like a Sherman Tank, now let’s examine this Apogee’s features. The Mac-only Ensemble has four channels of clean, high-gain mic preamp; eight channels of Apogee’s famous AD and DA; front-panel controlled monitor-section with main and headphone outputs; and up to 10 channels of digital I/O. This outstanding feature packed unit interfaces with the DAW easily though the Mac’s Firewire port, making the Ensemble a great all-in-one solution for the Mac-based studio.

Ensemble features 36 channels of simultaneous audio, including 8 channels of Apogee A/D and D/A conversion, 4 digitally controlled 75dB mic preamps, 8 channels of ADAT I/O, 2 channels of S/PDIF coax and optical I/O, and FireWire connectivity to and from the computer. Ensemble also includes Apogee technologies such as SoftLimit, UV22HR, and Intelliclock. MAESTRO INFORMATION

Maestro is an innovative application that offers advanced control capabilities in addition to those available in Logic Pro.
