Mercenary Audio has a long history with ADAM monitors. We like to think that we had a hand in popularizing the S3A monitor many years ago, and it became an industry changing speaker. Recently there were some big changes made with the ADAM line and it took us a while to get a pair of the new X versions to hear. Well, we have finally heard the S3X-H’s, and we’re impressed! When we first got the S3X-H’s on our meter bridge, I think we were not at all prepared for the resulting experience. Since we are all very familiar with the ADAM line, and have used the S3A’s religiously in our studio for years, we didn’t think the design could get much better and more useful. In working with the S3X-H’s on recent sessions, We feel that they have vastly superior articulation of detail, better separation in frequency content/bandwidth, a larger more transparent result showing REAL width, height/size and depth of tone without coloration. It is apparent that the S3X-H are vast improvements over the S3A in many ways, and, so far, translation is a one shot deal with the S3X-H. The phrase "studio tool" is a gross underestimate of their potential.
